Lilypie 2nd Birthday Ticker

August 20, 2006

No Really, I'm Quite Comfortable Where I Am Thank You Very Much!

I swear, if Baby Bav had a bubble above his/her head, I'm sure that's what it would say! So another day, another milestone passed! Have the baby on the actual due date? What was I thinking - how cliche! :)

As each day passes, I wonder what it is that Baby Bav is waiting for. When I didn't have Baby Bav early, I figured maybe he/she was a considerate baby not wanting to cause a scene while I was at work...

When I didn't have Baby Bav on my Janice-Day or Karine-Day, I figured maybe he/she wanted to be a leader, not a follower and be born on it's own day...

When I didn't have Baby Bav on August 15th (one of the two due dates I was clinging to), I figured maybe he/she didn't want to be born on a Wednesday because, as my friend Steph's husband Ben pointed out, babies born on a Tuesday or Wednesday this year would turn the ripe old age of 19 (the legal drinking age in Ontario...) on a Friday or Saturday which would mean a wild and crazy drinking party for sure, and maybe Baby Bav didn't want me to worry...

When I didn't have Baby Bav yesterday, I figured it was because he/she wanted to see what the Lily Pie ticker (the ticker across the top of the blog saying how many days pregnant and days left I have) would do after the due date. Would it say 40 weeks pregnant and 1 day overdue, would it say 40 weeks pregnant and 1 long day overdue, the suspense!!! Well, now that Baby Bav knows that it just says how many days I've been pregnant, it can come out. Do you hear me in there? You can come out now! :)

If you're wondering what I'm doing up so early on a Sunday morning (right now it's about 7:15am), it's because I can't sleep. No, not because I'm not tired, because my body is protesting! We went to bed last night around midnight (what were we thinking?) then I proceeded to get up to pee at 1:28am, 3:04am (not even the start of the "witching hour" can delay a pregnant bladder...), 5:11am (after defiantly waiting an agonizing long 30 minutes or so just because I didn't want to give into getting up after only 90 minutes since the last pee), 6:02am and then finally gave up at 6:27am. And now here I am, blogging at the crack of dawn on a Sunday... *sigh*

Marvin just came downstairs... poor guy. When I sleep, he doesn't sleep because my snoring is so obscenely loud and disruptive that even earplugs don't always work; and when I don't sleep, he doesn't sleep because I'm tossing and turning and getting up every 90 minutes to pee. Poor guy... he's so good though, he doesn't complain, he's just worried about how I'm doing. I really am lucky to have such a wonderful husband (or maybe he's just afraid of my raging and instable hormones these days...). :)

Our plans for today, aside from pretending to not be waiting for Baby Bav to make an appearance, include lounging around the house for the first part of the day and then going to our friends' wedding - Mark and Soula are getting married this afternoon! Maybe Baby Bav is waiting to cause a scene at the wedding reception...
