Quick... What Rhymes With Reach?

Yup, you guessed it... breech. Not even born yet and Baby Bav is doing things how he/she wants to. As my mom said when I told her, "It sure is your baby" (meaning that I apparently was a handful and did things as I wanted to when I was a kid - I can't imagine that)! :)

So we went to the ultrasound yesterday afternoon and it was confirmed that Baby Bav is in fact head up (aka breech). The ever-so-friendly-and-cheerful technician I had didn't really provide a lot of details (to her credit, I guess, her job is to just document things, not diagnose). After she did her thing, she went to the waiting area to get Marvin and then showed us Baby Bav on the screen. Unfortunately, because the monitor was to my side and behind me a bit, I didn't really have a good look, but could tell there was definitely a baby there! She pointed out Baby Bav's arms and legs and then showed us how his/her foot was right up near it's face (basically Baby Bav is folded in half - what flexibility). My first thought? Great, Baby Bav is smelling his/her feet - I hope he/she doesn't have a foot fetish! :) We were also told that they only give out pictures at the 18-20 week ultrasounds so we weren't able to get a photo. I mean really, how hard would it have been to press the print button? I would have paid her for the paper and kept the whole thing our little secret, but no. No pictures for me! :(

So what are the next steps? No idea! I rescheduled my next appointment with my doctor so that it's next Tuesday (instead of next Thursday) figuring that if she was going to try and move Baby Bav the sooner the better seeing as this is when babies tend to gain more weight. I'm not even sure if that's something she's going to do, or will she just move to schedule a c-section. I really don't know. Once we have our next appointment, I'll be sure to update everyone.

But, last night Marvin and I read up a bit about breech babies and things you can do to try and turn them. So today, I'm at home (partly sick and partly just trying to rest) and am trying to do what I can to encourage Baby Bav to move. I've crouched on my hands and knees for 1/2 an hour (not really the most comfortable position, but these are the things I need to do) and right now I have headphones taped to my belly just below the belly button and am playing some old school music for Baby Bav. Earlier today, we listened to Mozart. :) One of the other mothers in my pre-natal class mentioned that she knew someone who had a breech baby and the baby turned into the proper position (head down facing the back) after she played music for it. We'll see... if nothing else, Baby Bav will at least grow up loving music and who knows, maybe he/she will follow in DJ M-Bav's footsteps! :)
