World Cup Dreams Put on Hold and Where is Baby Bav's Head?
First I want to apologize for worrying one of my loyal fans by not updating my blog sooner and not following my usual routine of checking out her blog this week. I am ok - nothing to worry about, but thanks again for checking up on me (you know, if I didn't know her better, I'd swear she was stalking me...)!
Can You Guess Who This Is?
For those of you who know my husband, you know that he was born kicking a soccer ball. Unfortunately, he's recently had to put his World Cup Dreams on hold for a while given this past Sunday he hurt himself at soccer - he planted his right leg, he went left and the knee went right. There were two distinct "pops" and then pain. Luckily I was at the game (you've never seen a nine-month pregnant lady run across the pitch like I did that night) so I was able to bring him to the hospital right away. Nothing like being a nine-month pregnant lady arriving at the hospital helping her husband hobble into the emergency room. The poor folks there weren't sure who they needed to care for! :) The x-rays didn't show anything (so the "pops" were probably the knee going out of joint and then back in), but they think some of the ligaments have been torn.He went to see an orthopaedic surgeon earlier this week and she said that more than 50% of the time torn ligaments have to be repaired through surgery. He's going for an MRI in a couple of weeks at which point we'll learn more. But for now, he's in a leg brace and gets around pretty well on his crutches. I'll keep you posted on any new developments on the Marvin-front.
Can You Find Baby Bav's Head?

These pictures were taken last week (July 14th) when I was a full 35 weeks. I'm always amazed at how big the belly can get (I'm sure it will get even bigger too) without the skin literally ripping open! :) I'm definitely bigger than I was back at 27 weeks (who would have thought?!?!).
This past Tuesday was our 36-week appointment - from now on they'll be weekly. We went through the usual routine... no weight gain in the past week and a half (total about 25 pounds to date - depending on whether you weigh me before or after the chocolate binges), no change in the belly measurement (still 36 weeks, so now my weeks have caught up with my belly), and my blood pressure was 122/70. Unfortunately, I didn't find out what the heart rate was because I was so caught up in talking to the doctor about how he couldn't find Baby Bav's head down that I didn't remember to ask.
At this point in the pregnancy, the baby's head usually is nestled down in the pelvis (what they call the baby "dropping" which means that the baby will usually come within the next four to six weeks). At each visit these days, the doctor will feel the position of the baby just to see where it is. But this time around, he wasn't able to feel Baby Bav's head down and couldn't be sure the harder bump near my chest wasn't the head (about a week or so ago at my last appointment, that doctor said she was able to feel the head down, so that means Baby Bav has been doing some funky gymnastics over the past week or so). So, he's sending us for an ultrasound later this afternoon to see how Baby Bav is positioned. If the head is up, Baby Bav is breech which usually means a c-section is necessary unless the baby turns before the c-section date. They can try to do external turning (lube me up and manually try to turn Baby Bav from the outside) but the doctor says that rarely works. So, we'll see what this afternoon brings. I have mixed feelings about potentially having a c-section, but really all that matters is that we do whatever we need to so that Baby Bav is healthy. One good thing about all of this is that we get to see Baby Bav again! So hopefully tomorrow I'll have an ultrasound picture to share. Maybe not until next week, depending on when I can scan it.

Stalking is such a harsh word, maybe more like "following your every move and watching you sleep" sounds better. Seriously though I love your tummy shots, your bump is beautiful :) Hope Marvin feels better soon.
