I've Been Dooped!

This past Wednesday, my boss scheduled a meeting with me and my soon-to-be replacement right after lunch to discuss my transition. Inside I groaned about having the meeting because that meant that I would have to make sure I came back from lunch right on time as opposed to maybe, perhaps running a couple of minutes late (I know... who does he think he is requesting that I only take my one hour for lunch - geez!). Anyhow, I got back on time at went to his office to start the meeting at which point he suggested we move to the boardroom given we were chatting about some confidential stuff. Having just seen two of my co-workers walk into the boardroom, I tried to tell my boss that it was booked, but he was convinced it was free. Thinking of how embarrassing it was going to be to walk around the corner and interrupt someone's meeting, I followed him in, only to find out that my co-workers were throwing me a surprise shower! Of course, I went completely red and was instantly very hot and embarrassed. :) It was very nice of them and very unexpected too. They pooled together some money and bought us the 3-in-1 swing/chair that we had registered for and a very large chocolate cake (how did they know I like chocolate?!?). There was also a mini pool going on the flip chart as to what I was having. By the end of the shower there were equal votes for boy and girl and one vote for "Other - Cat". I guess someone at work has been reading my blog!

This morning Marvin and I ventured out to the doctor's again for our 34-week visit. As usual, there isn't anything too exciting to talk about from the visit... blood pressure was 122/66, weight gain was between a pound or two, heart rate was 135-ish and the belly was measuring 36 cms. The doctor figured that the belly is measuring a bit large (should in theory be closer to 34 cms) because the baby is still sitting pretty high right now. She didn't seem worried, so neither am I - but I have to say as soon as she said that was a bit big I was all ready to defend myself by pointing out that even though I had grown 4 cms in two weeks I had only gained just over a pound, but there was no need to go there today. :) We head back in another week and a half and then from that point on we'll be going every week! So like I said, nothing too exciting happened at today's visit... oh except for my grand entrance into the lobby of the building - how could I forget that?

As we were walking into the lobby, I saw that the elevator door was closing. Because they're soooo slow, I reached my arm out to stick it between the elevator door and wall to make the door open again. But alas, things did not go according to plan... as I reached my arm out, I also stretched my leg out and quickly found out that my flip flops do not have any grip on tiled floor. In what seemed like slow-motion, I slipped onto the floor and landed every so gracefully (?) onto my butt. Poor Marvin was horrified, but I swear I didn't hurt myself... I really felt like I just ended up sitting slowly on the floor. Needless to say, I didn't catch the elevator so I had to stand in the lobby with all these people who were also waiting for the elevator (which took forever) and who saw my dramatic entrance. How embarrassing... never a dull moment with me I suppose! :)
