A Week's Worth of Catching Up...

Sorry about not blogging earlier - I swear I always have good intentions. But this past week, has been a busy one. I won't bore you with the details because I know you're all just here to see pictures of Maja (I'm not even sure you read what I write... maybe I should just post pictures and leave it up to your imagination to figure out what was going on for each of them)!

Anyhow, last Thursday, Grandma came to visit Maja after not having seen her for almost a full two weeks! Can you imagine?!? Anyhow, here's a shot of Maja just after I told her that Grandma was coming to spend the day with her - pure excitement...
Now when Grandma arrived, Maja had so many things to show her. Where to start... Maja decided the many squirrels running around our backyard digging the little holes that she catches her shoes in when she's walking out there and that make her fall sometimes was a good place to start - damn squirrels...
Next, Maja wanted to show off her new snowsuit to Grandma - but in stages of course. Here's Maja modelling her new hat...
Then just her new snow pants (I love how she looks in just the snow pants)...
And finally the whole ensemble...
Then, Maja wanted to show Grandma what it was like to walk a mile in Daddy's shoes (ok, so they're slippers and it was just from the front door to the kitchen, but I digress)...
After bringing Grandma up to speed on her goings on since their last play date, it was off to the park. Here is a shot of an excited Grandma & Maja...
First up at the park was the big swing...
Next was the tall tower usually reserved for the big kids, but Maja figured it was ok to go on with Grandma because she is just a big kid anyway...
Maja thoroughly enjoying herself sliding down the big kid slide all by herself...
And then it was time to head back home for some hot chocolate, a tea and a bottle of warm milk for all of us...
After warming up, Maja and Grandma hung out in the living room playing with one of Maja's new favourite toys, the stacking cups that Teta got her from IKEA...
Maja remembered that she had forgotten to show Grandma the headband that Bakica got her a while back, so here she is modelling it for Grandma...
As I'm sure you can tell by the photos above, Maja (and me too) had a blast with Grandma. Thanks again for coming out mom and thanks for putting up with me snapping all those pictures of you with Maja! :)
Then on Saturday, Grandpa came by to help Marvin & I try to set up our new laptop (thanks again for spending your day with us and helping us out) - Grandma stayed back home to get things ready for Maja's Uncle-Uncle Alastair (aka great-uncle) who is coming in from New Zealand later this week (can't wait!). When Grandpa arrived, Maja immediately started running around the house trying to find all of her cool things to show Grandpa. This is one of her new things with Grandpa. Although she's always loved her Grandpa, she's really starting to try and impress him these days. Last week when we were at Anna & Peter's baptism, Maja was getting antsy on my lap during the service. After trying to read to her, give her her juice, give her an apple, give her Cheerios, etc... we finally realized what it was she was trying to do. She was trying to squirm off of my lap, passed Marvin and onto Grandpa's lap with her apple so he could read her book to her! How cute!!! So anyway, when Grandpa arrived and was sitting downstairs working away on the computer, Maja kept running over showing Grandpa things... first it was her stacking cups, then it was a book and so on! Here Maja is getting ready to show off her bracelets to Grandpa...
This morning, Maja asked if I could call Bakica and see if she was interested in going for coffee with Maja. As usual, Bakica was more than willing to drop everything to spend time with her little unukica (grand-daughter in Croatian). But before Maja would leave the house she needed to get dressed up. Here Maja has on my bracelet and is putting on a necklace for Bakica (it's really a bracelet that she stretched out and wrapped around her neck to improvise). Lucky for me, Maja dropped the necklace in the car on the way there and forgot about it (not sure small beads for an almost 15-month old is really the best toy)...
As usual, Bakica & Maja were a hit in Loblaws. They headed over to check out the new Joe clothing section in Loblaws (lots of cute outfits I'm really trying hard not to buy), chatted it up with Rita at the self-scan and then headed upstairs for some flirting (Maja, not Bakica) with the gentlemen lounging around having coffee. Thanks again for the date Bakica - I know Maja loved it!
All day today, Maja was doing cute things that make me realize that she's really a little person who understands her surroundings so much. This morning, Maja & I were playing in her room when Maja found the bottle of saline solution that we drop into her nose to soften up the boogers before trying to scoop them out (I know, I know... graphic, but true). She showed it to me, then held it up to her nose then snorted. She then went over to one of her teddy bears, pretended to use it on him and then "blew" his nose on one of her blankets! Then, when I handed her some of her facecloths to carry downstairs, she wiped her face with them the same way we do after she's eaten. I tell ya, she was cracking me up all day! :)
And finally, later this afternoon Maja was chatting on the phone to Grandma when she did the cutest thing... I put the phone up to Maja's ear so she could hear Grandma say "Hi" and then Maja gave the phone a hug! I love it! I tried to catch a picture of her doing it but was too slow. So instead, here's a shot of Maja waving goodbye to Grandma when Grandma said "Goodbye" to her...
