Yesterday morning, Maja woke up with construction in her blood. As we were sitting in the dining room eating breakfast, Maja heard a truck arrive at the house next door and was very insistent on going outside to investigate. So after inhaling the rest of her cereal and yogurt, I bundled Maja up and we headed outside to check things out. Here is a shot of Maja helping the guys put the pylons out on the street to warn traffic that there was a toddler running about and to drive slowly...

After checking out the new garage floor that was poured next door, it was time to head down the street to bang on the mailbox. Here's a shot of Maja as she nearly ran by me to get there...

After banging on the mailbox for a good five minutes or so, Maja's curiosity got the better of her and she headed over to investigate a water-line cap on the sidewalk (not to worry, Maja reported that all was in working order)...

As it had been almost two weeks since Maja had seen her best friend, Christine, and her brother, Dash, when Maja woke up from her morning nap, we packed up and headed off to Mississauga to visit our buddies. It was a really nice visit... for almost the first hour, Maja, Christine & Dash entertained themselves enough so that Steph & I were able to have a nice, almost uninterrupted, chat (a rarity whenever two parents get together)! Stephanie was a great hostess, as usual, and was prepared for our visit with her yummy chocolate chip banana muffins for us and Baby Mum Mums for the kids (we definitely got the better end of the deal).
Although we all had a good time, as you can tell by the photo below, none of the kids were really feeling themselves by the time we got around to the photo shoot... Christine was getting over a cold, Dash was sick with a cold and, unbeknownst to me, Maja apparently was working on a fever that was almost 102 by the time we got home...

As I mentioned, by the time we got back home and had some lunch, Maja was running a fever of almost 102. I pumped her with some Tylenol and then put her down for a nap which seemed to help a bit. But by the end of the day, Maja's fever was back up and she had a rough night (which of course meant that Marvin & I also had a rough night). This morning, her fever was gone and I thought we were out of the woods, but by the time Grandma came for her visit, Maja was back up to 102 and her discomfort was starting to come through. But, being the trooper that she is, Maja was still able to let her usual perky self show through here & there throughout the day.
Here Maja is sitting on her rocking chair watching "Four Square" on Treehouse - definitely Maja's favourite show...

Here's a shot of Grandma & Maja lounging around lunchtime. Poor Maja was so beside herself the only thing that would calm her was her bottle and zoning out in front of the tv...
Like I said though, Maja was able to let some of her personality shine through every once and a while. Here's an example - Maja had just snuck over to the hallway and found my keys (contraband item #4272)...

And what did Miss Maja do with her new found toy?!? She sat back in her new princess chair, kicked up her feet then set off the car alarm of course...

Here's a shot of Maja sitting on one of the kitchen chairs giving me a glimpse of the attitude that I'm sure Marvin & I will experience more when she's older. I love the look of "What?!?! I'm not doing anything wrong... I'm just sitting here mom!"...

Maja is now able to reach into the fridge (once I open it) and find a container of peeled & cut apples these days. Here is a picture of Maja showing off her new smile (squinty eyes and full toothy smile) looking so proud of herself for having found that container this afternoon...

And here's another shot of Maja impressed with herself...

So how is Maja now? Well, just before we put her down for the night she had a fever of slightly over 103 (yikes!). We quickly gave her some Tylenol, gave her some juice, dressed her in loose pjs, gave her a bottle of milk and plunked her in bed. Then about an hour and a half after she went down, Marvin & I headed in to take her temperature and were relieved to see that it had dropped down to just over 101 (still not great, but at least it's moving in the right direction). Here's hoping we have a good night ahead of us and that Maja is able to sleep off the fever.
