Daily Routines, Outdoor Cutie & Playing Dress-Up...

One of the things I'm trying with Maja these days is to get her into a daily routine, specifically a morning routine. So far it's going well - ok as well as can be expected with a 1 year old. Below are a couple of pictures from our morning routine. First, we wash Miss Maja's face...
Something Maja apparently wasn't impressed with that day...
Then it's time to brush Maja's teeth (those upper ones are the toughest to get to)...
And for the finale, we brush Maja's hair...
After we're all ready, it's our outside time... be it a walk around the neighbourhood, checking out how the construction is going next door or a brisk walk (provided of course that mommy's energy is good)! On this particular day, Grandma was visiting and we headed up & down the sidewalk to pick up leaves. Here's a cute shot of Maja in her sporty outfit (courtesy of Teta) showing Grandma a leaf that she picked up...
Here's a shot of Miss Maja walking down the sidewalk all by herself (her latest game is to bang continuously on the mail box at the corner)...
Maja apparently ready to "fire" if the construction guys come any closer to her beloved shed...
"What do you mean we have to go inside now?!?"...
Maja pondering what her new Hallowe'en book, Cheerios, leaves and squatting on the front porch have in common...
The other day Maja told me that because her Daddy has been working so hard and is yet again carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders she wanted to make Daddy a special card for when he came home from work as a surprise. So we dug out the paint and a foam brush and let the creative juices flow! But of course when paint is anywhere within a mile radius of a 1 year old, precautions need to be taken (aka I had to strip Maja down to her diaper). Apparently this gesture overwhelmed Maja so much that she just had to give me one of her precious squishy hugs that I love...
After the cuddling, we got down to work. Here we are painting Maja's foot...
Then painting her hand and squishing it on the paper...
Needless to say, Marvin loved the card! Ahhh I can just see that we are only a short while away from having the fridge covered in macaroni art! :) I can't remember when this picture was taken or what we were doing, but it cracks me up...
My mom & I agree that although Maja has a "Tomboy" side to her (she loves to watch big trucks, the construction going on next door, sits peacefully for long periods of time while being pushed around The Home Depot, and loves to see how things work), she definitely has a "Girly-Girl" side to her too. Here are a couple shots of her playing dress-up over the last little while. Who says leg warmers should be left back in the 80s?!?
A shot of Maja modelling my belt tied around her waist, Daddy's night shirt draped over her shoulders a la "tennis-yuppie" style while carrying a knock off Gucci purse (yes Nadia, my Gucci purse that I tried to tell you so many years ago was a real one is actually a knock off... but you weren't able to tell were you?!?)...
Turning on the cat-walk...
Then finally settling down in her room for a quick read about Animal Houses by Baby Einstein...

EXCUSE ME?!?! I was NOT able to tell that GUCCI was a fake!?!?! I knew right away it was a fake... and tried to tell you that... but I did not want to hurt your feelings in case you truly thought it was real!

You see... I can be nice!

Girl... don't you dare slander my good name on your blog... and ruin my reputation!!!

Forever superficial and materialistic,
Nadia
