A Party Fit for a Princess...

And that's exactly what Maja was this past Saturday at her 1st birthday party, a Princess! Here's what I mean - a princess looking for her glass slipper...
A Princess all dolled up getting ready to make her grand entrance to her own party (she was fashionably late - wonder where she gets that from - because she was napping)...
Despite the 1/2 hour long down pour that happened about an hour into the party (I was not amused to say the least), I think everyone had a good time at the party. Although a couple of our guests seemed to have a problem with their dinner and managed to spill it all over themselves. "Apparently" the cutlery was slippery from all the rain and that was to blame. Here's a picture of Steph showing off her pants...
And of course Ben, being the loving and considerate husband, didn't want Steph to feel out of place, so he too decided to throw his food on himself. Here's a shot of Ben showing off his arm (And I wonder where their daughter, Christine, gets it from?!?)...

And of course, what would a birthday party be without a birthday cake?!? Here is a shot of the cake we picked out (and once again, Maja turned her nose up at cake - is she really my child?!?)...
After the party, although she had eaten plenty, I caught Maja downstairs in the fridge (ok, not really "in" the fridge, but you know what I mean) looking for a midnight snack...
Then on Sunday, Maja, Marvin, Bakica & I headed off to Whitby to celebrate the other Maja's (Maja G's) birthday - Maja G was born at 12:15am the very same day as our Maja. Although I don't have any blog worthy photos to post (I'm not sure what was wrong with me that day) here's a link to Maja G's website that I'm sure Cynthia will update when she has a chance to (right Seka?!?). All in all, it was a great weekend for the Majas! :)

Not much happening on Monday - Maja said that she wanted to just chill after such a busy weekend. But today, Maja was on the go again. After waking up and having breakfast, it was off to Loblaws to get some groceries (not that we really need anything, given all the left over food we have from the party). Then after grabbing a quick nap it was off the doctor's office for her 1 year (yikes!) check up. Unfortunately, Bakica wasn't feeling well and wasn't able to make the trip, but Grandma was able to come by just in time to head off with us (and of course take all kinds of great shots - thanks again Mom!). Here's a shot of Maja resting up for the big visit in her rocking chair fashioning the ever-so-cool tank top Maja G picked up for her while she was in Croatia last month...

Shortly after getting in the room, Maja was weighed and measured. We are so proud of our "little" girl! At her last visit (at 9 months, so 3 months ago), Maja weighed 19 lbs even and was 29 inches tall. Today, she weighed a whopping 23 lbs 15 oz (a mere ounce under 24 lbs - I told her she shouldn't have poohed) and was 32 inches tall! For weight she's at the 90% percentile (which means she's heavier than 90% of the girls her age) and for height she's off the top of the chart (unfortunately so is her head measurement... maybe she can pass along some of that head to Maja G, eh Cyn?!?). :)

While we were waiting for the doctor to come back to give Maja her shots (for which she wailed for almost two minutes before Grandma, Pedro, the duda and I could calm her down), Maja figured now was a good time to give Pedro his check up. As for weight, Pedro didn't register anything on the scale (I mean really, I wouldn't weigh much either if I just ate carrots)! But Maja was able to check out Pedro's ears (working fine, thank you very much)...

And of course his blood pressure (118/72, although Maja did get a bit worried when she couldn't hear Pedro's heart beat at first)...
