I Will Not Perform!

There's a saying out there that says, in effect, "kids make liars out of their parents". And oh how true that is! :) For example, back at the beginning of June I posted saying that Maja had just taken her first steps. Although that was true, and since then she's shown us that she can walk on her own a bit, Maja has decided to protest and stop walking. :( Her latest trick when we try to stand her up on her own is to either just sit right down or lift her arms above her head and drop her shoulders so she goes all limp (aka "limp baby" as we call her). Oh well... can't force her, can only encourage her. I just hope she starts walking before she's 35 - I can only imagine how dirty the bottom of her wedding dress would be if she had to crab-crawl down the aisle! :)

Maja has also decided that she will no longer say "hwoof" at doggies (or anything for that matter) when prompted. She will "hwoof" when, and only when, she decides the time is right, thank you very much! So although I was all impressed with Maja "saying" her first word the other day, I wish she'd continue to "hwoof" at me. :) Maybe today...

Anyhow, here are some pictures from the past couple of days. Here Maja is playing peek-a-boo with me. Almost every morning Maja and I will go downstairs to the basement to play and she will shuffle off around the corner, then peer through the gate on the one side, then lean around the corner (like in this photo) to peek at me...
Here is a picture of Maja from Tuesday afternoon when I threw (ok, carefully placed - no need to call the S.A.H.S (Stuffed Animal Humane Society) on me) all of Maja's bedroom stuffed animals into the crib with her to see what she'd do. From left to right: Jenny (from Casey), Twinkle Bear (from my Nana, my paternal grandma), Krista-sauras (from our friend Mona's daughter, Kristen), Clara (named after my maternal grandma), Pedro (#1), Mickey Mouse, Monkey, Pedro (#2), and then hidding behind Maja's noggen are Soca Susanna, Pedro (#3), Maggie Bunny (named after my mom - no, my mom's name isn't Maggie it's Margo, but I figured Margo was a form of Margaret and Maggie is a form of Margaret...), and Lammie (a gift from Grandma & Grandpa from Holland)... And of course out of all those toys, who does does Maja pull out from the crowd?!? All three Pedros of course (Pedro #4 was patiently waiting in the car for our next adventure on wheels)...
And just recently Maja has discovered that she can grab her "walker" herself and walk around the basement (she always so proud of herself too). And what fun would it be to walk around the basement alone?!? None of course, so she offered to give Winnie a lift to the exersaucer...
