Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot!

I must confess... I haven't updated the blog earlier because I didn't have any new photos to post. I know, I know... wasn't I the one that took almost 200 photos once I got the new camera? I have shamed my mother... :) Anyhow, once I realized that I picked up the camera and snapped away. So now that I've taken some photos, here I am with a new update.

This week, Marvin is off on vacation (yeah!) and it's really nice to be able to spend more time with him as well as to see him with Maja. I'm sure Maja loves it too. But unfortunately, it's already Wednesday and the time seems to be slipping away too quickly. :( So let's see... what have we been up to?!? Monday, Marvin had some volunteer work to do so he was busy with that all day so Maja and I decided to head up to my office to see everyone. It was great to see the gang again, but boy did it feel weird to drive up the the building after having been away for so long. I can only imagine how weird it will feel October next year when I finally go back (yippee!).

Then yesterday, Marvin spent the entire day with Maja so my mom & I could have lunch together and finally go to a beading store to make the jewellery that I promised her we'd make three Mother's Days ago (I'm such a deliquent daughter, I know)! Marvin & Maja had a great time, as did my mom & I. My mom made a nice necklace while I made a cute bracelet and necklace. Thanks again Marvin for spending the day with Maja and thanks mom for a great day!

Then today, Marvin, Maja & I packed up and headed up to Lake Simcoe to try and beat the heat for a bit. We timed our departure for right when Maja was supposed to nap so she slept a bit in the car. When we arrived at the beach, we found a nice shady spot under a tree right near the water and lathered ourselves in sunblock (hard to do with a squirmy 11-month old). This was Maja's first trip to a beach and aside from being a bit fussy with the cooler water, Maja had a great time. She was waving at the seaguls, the folks sitting around us and the goose poo all over the grass! :) Anyhow, enough yammering on - here are a bunch of photos for you to enjoy!

Here's Maja downstairs in the basement on Monday nibbling on a "Skipper" with a somewhat guilty look to her...
Here's a shot of the back of Maja's head to show you all just how curly her hair is these days...
Here Maja has successfully crawled from her room, across the hallway (don't worry - I barricaded the stairs with a gate), into our bedroom, hoisted herself up onto her feet and shuffled from the end of the bed over to the bookshelf. Shortly after this photo was taken, there was a pile of books tossed across the floor...
Here are the shots from our visit to the beach today. Here Maja is showing us just how much she enjoyed the cooler water (love her expression - makes me laugh out loud)...
Now, everyone knows that Maja is a very friendly kid. But just how friendly, I didn't realize until she managed to pick up a complete stranger with just a flash of her beautiful smile. Here Maja has just spotted a gentleman walking her way. I can just hear what she was thinking - "Who is that handsome fellow walking towards me?!?"...
Then, "Hiiiii there, handsome!"...
Then, "Call me!"...
Then Maja, acting all bashful, covered her face with her shovel...
Here Maja is playing with the camera case while Daddy lounges beside her...
Then it was off to the water for Maja. Here is a shot of her walking with Marvin to the waterfront...
Maja splashing away in her floater...
Now, the first time Maja went in the water we put a "swimmer" diaper on. But the second time, I didn't bother - I just left her regular diaper on. I mean really, how full and bloated could it get?!? Well, I soon got my answer... here's a shot of Maja trying to get into the diaper bag when her diaper, which was completely full of water and apparently very heavy, busted open and fell off all on its own! Mental note, always use the swimmers...
Here Maja discovered she had a bit of a fan club sitting at the picnic table next to us and decided to acknowledge their cries for attention with a grin and wave...
Later, she was making some faces at those same adoring fans...

So that was the past little while. As for the rest of the week, we're not sure what's in store. Looks like you'll have to stay tuned to find out!
