Lilypie 2nd Birthday Ticker

More Fun Filled Days...

Yesterday morning, Bakica stopped by to see me (yeah, right... who am I kidding?!?) & Maja. After feeding Maja her yummy breakfast (and yes, for those of you following the food trials & tribulations of Maja's breakfasts, the veggies for breakfast have stopped), Bakica & Maja spent some quality time hanging out on the couch doing what Maja loves to do - read books. I swear, for someone that used to just eat books, Maja has come a long way. She absolutely loves to be read to. She loves to turn the pages, point to the different pictures, have people describe to her what she sees, and she especially loves to read the same books over and over and over again! Anyhow, here is a shot of Bakica & Maja sharing a moment...
Then yesterday after Maja's "nap", we headed of to my friend Kathy's place for a mini high school reunion. Along with Maja & I, Stephanie, Christine & Dash were there too. I don't think I've seen Kathy since early university years... maybe even high school. Anyhow, we haven't seen each other in a long time. It was really nice to catch up and to compare motherhood stories. Although Kathy, Stephanie & I were out numbered 3 adults to 5 kids, we were able to maintain a bit of control during the visit.

Here's a group shot of the kids just before we went our separate ways (you'd think I'd learn to take the photo at the beginning of the visit wouldn't you?!?!). A bit of explanation is needed here... although Maja was in her room for an hour "napping" before we left for our visit she just spent the time yammering on & on to herself and didn't really sleep. So by the time this picture was taken, she was over 3 hours past her normal nap time. And Nicholas (second from the right) was upset because he wasn't sitting beside his brother (far left) and was stuck with the crying girl beside him! So from left to right you have Christopher (3 months), Christine (2 years this coming Monday!!!), Maja, Nicholas (3 years on New Year's Eve) and the Dashman. I love how Christine and Dash are staring at each other across Maja & Nicholas as if to say "What's the heck's their problem?" or "What did our mother get us into here?"...
After the drama in the morning, I figured a nice quiet afternoon was in order. Unfortunately for Maja that included some household chores like raking leaves out back - something she wasn't the least bit impressed with...
In case I failed to mention this earlier, Maja has her first pet! Yup, we call him "Spinny" and he is a great pet. He's already house broken (that was a must for Marvin), doesn't ever bark, doesn't mind being dragged around the house and is actually pretty handy to have in the kitchen. Here is a picture of Maja walking Spinny this morning...
And in case you can't tell, that's actually the lid to our salad spinner. Did you really think we were going to get a dog?!? Do you know us at all?!?! :)
If you read the last blog, you know that Maja is now into dressing up. Later this afternoon Maja was sporting a beautiful fleece shawl, carrying her Nerf baseball, holding her pink bracelet that she got in the loot bag from Maja G's birthday party (that she absolutely loves) and clutching her Gucci purse (Note: Our friend, Nadia, would like to me to inform Maja's faithful readers that she did in fact know that my purse was a fake but that she was just being polite by not pointing it out to me as a means of saving me from getting hurt - thank you Princess Nadia... happy now?!?)...
Then when Marvin came home from work, Maja got to spend some time with him while I prepped dinner. By now, you think I'd know not to leave my wonderful husband alone with Maja, but alas I was swept away by his innocent look and turned a blind eye. Here's the result - Maja wearing a Little Swimmers diaper on her head. When I asked her what it was, Daddy promptly replied that it was her swim cap...
Then during dinner, Daddy thought he'd style Maja's hair (apparently the "normal" look doesn't cut it for him these days). Here is a shot of Maja modelling (albeit very unhappily modelling) her "Crazy-Ass-Hair" hair-style a la Daddy...
