Happy Birthday Baka!

Today is Bakica's birthday and when I told Maja that we'd be spending the latter part of the afternoon and then dinner time with her, here was Maja's reaction (big smiles!)...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BAKICA! We had a great time with you today!

So in addition to celebrating Bakica's birthday today, Maja has been busy over the past week. Tuesday afternoon, Maja & I headed out to Grandma & Grandpa's place. Maja loved the sunshine and really enjoyed hanging around on G&G's deck (thank goodness they have an overhead canopy that protected Maja delicate skin from the high UV - in the middle of April!). And what would a sunny day be without some good ol' quality swing time?!? Luckily for Maja, Grandma happened to have a swing just hanging around. As you can see by her face in this picture, Maja just loved the swing...
Wednesday night after Marvin came home from work, we headed down the street for a family park night! Maja enjoys going to the park but likes to go from toy to toy to toy all within a couple of minutes of each other. It's more like "park-in-a-minute" whenever we go! :) Here's a shot of Maja hanging out in one of the tunnels enjoying playing peek-a-boo with Marvin. If you look closely, you can see Marvin's face peering through the hole in the tunnel, which makes me laugh...
Of course, after the 30 seconds of playing peek-a-boo was over, it was time to head over to the teeter-totter. Here's a shot I took in mid-teeter of Marvin & Maja...

Although Maja was acting her usual self pretty much all day (even when she was at the park that night), Maja was actually working on a fever as she was fighting an ear infection. Poor, little kid... we had no idea until she decided to throw up at 9pm that night and register a fever of over 102 degrees. :( On Thursday, she still wasn't feeling herself so we (Marvin, Maja & I) headed over to the doctor's office for a quick check up. That's when we found out that she was fighting an ear infection and got a prescription for some antibiotics. She wasn't really herself for the rest of Thursday but has been getting better each day since then. And surprisingly, she doesn't mind taking her disgusting smelling medicine three times a day! :)

On Saturday, we had a busy day. Maja & I were hosting a baby shower with Stephanie for our good friend Sara (she's due May 13th) in the afternoon, and Marvin was heading downtown with his buddy Mark to watch game 4 of the Raptors vs. Magic playoff series. Unfortunately, the Raptors lost, but at least we had a good time at the shower! :) Before heading off for the game, Marvin & Maja hung out a bit in the backyard enjoying yet another sunny day. Here's one of my favourite shots of the two of them...
When we headed back inside, Marvin snagged this photo of Maja performing her balancing skills in her Raptors jersey in the kitchen - what a ham!
Here's a shot of Maja completely enthralled with one of the balloons she found at our table at the shower. Please note her staticky (sp?) hair that's sticking to the balloon...
A huge thank you to Grandma for watching Maja while we were at the shower. It was soooo helpful to have you watching her for me, Mom. I wouldn't have been able to do it without you!

On Sunday, Maja had two very special visitors come by. First, Teta Linda came by in the morning to hang out with her little punkie. It was so cute to watch how excited Maja got with Linda! Here's a shot of Teta Linda showing off her newly patented "potato sack your niece" grip with Maja and her Diego car as they headed across the street - I love this photo...

After hanging out with Teta for a while, Maja's second visitor came by - Bakica! And Bakica didn't come alone - she brought Maja a cute Dora doll that sings and dances. Maja absolutely loves her new buddy. She will dance along side of Dora, twisting her hips while singing "We Did It" with Dora! When we were able to pry Maja away from her new buddy, Teta, Marvin, Bakica, Maja & I headed out to Mandarin to stuff ourselves silly with yummy food as an early birthday meal with Bakica.
