Lilypie 2nd Birthday Ticker

A Week in Review...

Last Friday, Maja & I met up with Grandma & Grandpa and headed to our favourite restaurant, IKEA, for lunch (yummy, yummy meatballs!). We got a nice window seat so we could bask in the warm afternoon sun, ate our lunch and then Maja wanted up so she could play in the kids area. It was so neat to just sit back and watch her play by herself and try to interact with the other kids. It was also really cute when she would come back to give Grandpa a high 5 every so often! After our lunch, we trekked back to Mississauga to spend some more time together at Grandma & Grandpa's. Here's a shot of Maja and Grandpa checking their calendar to see when they could get together next...After playing with all the toys downstairs, Maja wanted to go upstairs and check out Grandma & Grandpa's toys. Here Maja is all suited up in Grandpa's radio headset talking to one of the elves up in the North Pole trying to smooth things over from her visit with Santa last week (either that or she's trying to help land a nearby plane)...
Then just before we left, Maja tried to snag a "hup-hup" (aka "bunny" in Maja lingo) from Grandma's bunny basket...Then late Saturday afternoon, Maja, Marvin & I headed out to Oakville to visit Megan & Tom. Maja was her usual hammy self putting on a performance for everyone while Megan & Tom were making us a very yummy dinner. Maja was also well behaved during dinner as she didn't throw a single morsel of food on Megan & Tom's new carpet - thank goodness! :) Here's a shot of all of us eating dinner...
Then after dinner, it was time for bed. Marvin headed upstairs with Maja and a bottle of milk, and after about 1/2 an hour of rocking, all was well and the adults were free to play cards until the wee hours of the morning (ok, so just until 11:30pm, but that feels like the wee hours to us these days). Maja was such an angel!
A couple of posts ago, I chatted about Maja chasing the birds in the local grocery store parking lot and how lucky I was to be able to be at home and watch these things. Well on Monday, Maja & I headed back to the grocery store and this time I was armed with my camera! :) Here's a shot of Maja scoping out the birds trying to figure out which ones can't run very fast...

Then I tried to take a video of Maja running after them, but after many tries she was getting frustrated. So instead, here's a video of me holding Maja while I ran after the birds (it's short but you get the idea of how excited Maja got from doing it)...

After our bird chasing adventure, we heading back home for a quick nap to rest up before Grandma arrived and we headed off to the doctor's for Maja's 15-month (wow!) appointment. Here Maja is doing her best "celebrity" pose in her high chair for Grandma... More of Maja hamming it up for us...
These days, Maja is absolutely loving apples - she will often have 2, if not 3, a day! Our ritual for apples is for Maja to clench her fist (her version of using sign language to say apple), point to the fridge saying "ehh, ehh, ehh" until I open it up and grab an apple, then for the two of us to sit together on the kitchen floor while I peel it and cut it into quarters for her. Here's a shot of us in mid-apple routine...
Then, it was off to the doctor! Here Maja is waiting in the driveway looking back at Grandma as if to say "Well come on Grandma - I don't have all day! I can't wait to get to the doctor's to get my shots! Let's go!" :) Grandma & Maja stepping up the curb to get to the door...
Then Maja & Grandma in the waiting room, checking out the puzzle that Grandma bought Graham for his birthday (Maja's eating apples, of course)...
The nurse then weighed Maja and measured her to see how much she's grown from 3 months ago. Well, our little Maja is growing like a weed! She is now 34 inches tall (which is literally off the charts tall for her age) and weighs 26 pounds 3 ounces (which is the 90th percentile). So she grew 2 inches and 2 1/3 pounds in just under 3 months. That's our girl! :) Then it was time to wait for the dreaded shots! Here Grandma is trying to distract Maja from her impending doom. If you're wondering why she's naked here, it's because the doctor needed to check out her diaper rash and I didn't feel like getting her dressed then undressed again...
Then Maja really let her hair down and went wild! She told Grandma that she wanted to get a tattoo on her bum. So they made a quick run out to the local tattoo parlor and Maja got this done...

Let's just hope she sticks with the sticker tattoos when she gets older! :) Then this morning, Bakica came by to play with Maja while I snuck out for an hour or so to run a few Maja-free errands. Thanks for the "me-time" Bakica!
