Boy, Are We Going to Have Our Hands Full...

For the past week, Maja has woken up a number of times each night having a coughing fit. Because she's still too young to have cough syrup, Marvin & I have been trying to give her juice or applesauce or anything that we think may help subside the cough (but no luck). Anyhow, Thursday night when I was putting Miss Maja to bed, she turned to me and said (in such a sweet polite little voice), "Mommy get Maja juice please?". Knowing that she had just had some juice downstairs and that she probably wasn't really thirsty, she was just stalling, I told her that I wasn't going to get her any juice now but she could have some in the morning. Her response?!? She faked a cough, put on a sad little face and again asked "Mommy get Maja juice please?"!!! Who teaches them these little tricks?!? :) Anyhow, as I said, I think we're going to have our hands full when she gets older - my only saving grace is that I, too, was a handful for my parents (I know, hard to believe, isn't it?!?!) which will hopefully let me stay one step ahead of her (yeah right!).

Anyhow, here are a couple of pictures from this week. Early Sunday evening after we finished our dinner, Marvin, Maja & I headed out in the wagon for a walk around the neighbourhood. Maja never fails to crack me up. A lot of times, instead of looking around at all the beautiful scenery we're passing, Maja will lean over and look through the two holes in the bottom of the wagon just to see the road pass under her. Here's a shot of her doing just that (you may have to click on the photo to enlarge it to see her better)... Then on Monday, Maja and a couple of her "friends" got together to head out to Riverdale Farms to visit some farm animals and have a picnic lunch. Instead of taking one car per kid, we doubled up and Maja's little friend Brooke (18 months old) hitched a ride with us. It was very exciting for all of us, but especially for Maja as she had a fellow little person back-seat-buddy for the first time ever! The ride started off pretty quiet but then Maja started chatting to Brooke and eventually reached out to hold her hand! Here's a shot of Maja & Brooke hanging out in the back seat together just before we headed out...
Once we arrived, we got to see all kinds of cool animals. We saw baby goats, horses, a donkey, turtles, ducks, chickens, roosters, sheep, pigs, turkeys and even a cow being milked! Maja was very curious about the cow! Here's a shot of Maja & I after we finished looking at all the animals but before our picnic (don't be fooled, it may look like she's waving to the camera but she's really waving at the cow getting milked who was behind Lisa who took the photo)...
Then on Wednesday, Maja had a special little visitor stop by in the afternoon - Melody (or "Medoly" as she calls her)! Maja had only seen Melody once before and was equally as curious about her this time around. And she wasn't too impressed whenever I held her. She kept saying "Mommy give Medoly back Sara"! And she really wasn't impressed when Sara went out the front door to drop some stuff off in the car and left me holding Melody in her car seat. I think her response to that was "Sara back! Forgot Medoly - Mommy No!" :) It will be interesting to see how she handles a sibling whenever (God willing) that happens! Anyhow, despite her suspicious nature about Melody, Maja was willing to give her a little kiss before she headed back home...
This afternoon we are heading out to watch TFC play at BMO stadium... hopefully the thundershowers will hold off for us and we won't get drenched! Our original plan was to bring Maja with us and introduce her to the wonderful world of soccer, but instead because of the rain, she and Crazy Teta Linda are going to hang out for the afternoon.
