And On The Seventh Day...
Ok so today is really the eighth day... I tried posting last night but the server site was down and I wasn't able to download any photos. Figuring the peanut gallery (yes, that's you guys) would be in an uproar if there was a posting without any photos, I thought it would be safer to wait until this morning to post with pictures and save myself a lot of headache... :)
I can't believe Maja is already a full week old. If I think back to going to the hospital and all of those other "fun" things from a week ago, it seems like so much longer than a week. I really can't remember what our lives were like before Maja arrived. Although things are a bit hectic, I wouldn't trade it for the world. Marvin and I are truly blessed and are so full of love for this little girl we can't even put it into words.
So now that Maja is a full week old, you're probably wondering what she did today to celebrate. She did plenty of things. First, in the middle of the night during one of the feedings, Maja gave Mommy a little gift in the form of her umbilical cord. A little startling to open up the onesie and have that sitting there I must say. So thoughtful of her to give me a gift though - kind of along the lines of how a cat brings a dead bird to the front door for its owner... but I digress.
We then had a quick bath because we had a date with the doctor (and you have to make sure you're clean when you go... kind of like flossing right before you go to the dentist). But unfortunately, Maja thought that the doctor wanted to see what she could do so she squeezed out a very loud, very stinky present just before he arrived. We managed to clean up the physical evidence, but the stink lingered and he quickly caught on. :)
Maja has done very well since she's been home. When she was born she weighed an even 9 lbs. When we were discharged from the hospital, she weighed 8 lbs 8 oz (babies tend to lose weight in the first couple of days). When we went for her follow up appointment on Monday, Maja had gained 6 oz (yippee - all that feeding was paying off). And then yesterday, Maja weighed in at a whopping 9 lbs 2.5 oz! She had now gained back and surpassed her birth weight (a milestone that doctors look for as a sign of good feeding). One for Mommy & Maja!
We then wrapped up the day with a quick nap and then Marvin, Maja and I went for a walk. Her first walk! We met the neighbours, went to the bank machine (very important for little girls to know where to find money), and then to Shoppers Drug Mart. All in all, a successful outing.
Here are some pictures from today - enjoy!

Maja stuffed into the car seat / stroller ready for her first walk (her neck still isn’t strong enough to prevent it from flopping uncomfortably to one side, hence the rolled blankets)…
