Although the sun is no longer shining, the birds are still chirping, the squirrels have come out from hibernation and some people even have their windows open - sure signs that spring is just around the corner! I can't wait! This morning Maja got to see her first real live birds! As Maja and I were sitting by the dining room window eating rice cereal (ok only she was eating the rice cereal and I really wouldn't call it eating... maybe just smearing it all over her face, but I digress) two birds came swooping down at each other and then settled on top of the hedge just outside the window. Needless to say, the rice cereal smearing took a back seat for a couple of minutes until the birds flew away! Then we also got to see a bright red cardinal on the hedge too. Very exciting morning for Maja! I can't wait until the really nice weather arrives so I can go for walks with her outside and have her hear / see the birds, the squirrels, those pesky raccoons as they knock over our garbage cans... :)
As you may remember from a couple of weeks back, Maja
wasn't really too impressed with rice cereal. However, since then she has come to like the different types of cereals. She has tried oats (probably her favourite), barley (next favourite), wheat and rice. We have two more days of just eating rice cereal alone and then we'll start with the veggies. I think the first one will be peas or carrots - depending on which one will match her outfit that day. :) Anyhow, here are a whole bunch of new photos for you. Enjoy!
Here is a shot of Maja trying barley for the first time. Please note that even after I fed her a couple of spoons worth she isn't too dirty...

And here she is after Grandma took over and fed her - definitely much messier! :) I think Grandma enjoyed watching Maja play with the barley just as much as she enjoyed feeding her!

And here is a shot of Maja getting hosed off after Grandma and her were finished with the barley (please note the speck of barley on her forehead just above her left eye - I swear I'm still finding barley in her nose even a week later)...

Here Maja is enjoying the new taste of wheat with Bakica. I love how she's "helping" Bakica with the spoon...

This past Friday, Maja had a bunch of boys over to play! When Marvin left for work in the morning he told Maja that he didn't approve of having three boys over to the house while he wasn't there but that it was ok this once because the other mothers and I would be chaperoning! Just before lunch Casey & Liam, Tracey & Gabriel and Alina and David came by for a couple of hours. It was great to see everyone again and to watch the kids interact with each other even if it was just to reach out and grab the drool covered toys from each other! Here is a shot of Liam doing some tummy time and showing off his "Howdy" t-shirt. Casey thought it would be a good shirt to wear seeing as he was going to be making some new friends that day (it was the first time he had met David and Gabriel)...

Here is David in the exersaucer munching on the horse. What you can't tell by the photo is that David's long hair was blowing in the breeze from the heater downstairs - very cute!

Here is Gabriel looking cute in the jolly jumper...

And of course, what would a visit with the boys be without the group shots?!? Here are Maja and David...

Maja and Liam...

And Maja and Gabriel...

And all four of them together on the couch. I like how it looks like Maja is trying to get David's attention... kind of like "Hey David - stop smiling at Liam and look at the camera!"...

Then on Saturday Maja, Marvin and I went to our friends' (Paolo and Isabel) wedding. Here is a shot of Maja getting dressed - anyone seen the movie "
Nacho Libre"? :)

Here Maja is squirming around on Daddy's lap at the church...

Here is a shot of Emily and Anna after the ceremony...

And here is a shot of the lovely couple...
