I Am 6 Months Old Today!
Well folks, today is a special day! Today, Maja turned 6 months old! I can't believe it! It seems like just yesterday that Marvin and I held our little girl for the first time, yet here we are 6 months later holding a little person! Our daugther! Holy cow! This morning when Maja woke up, I explained what today was and I asked her how she wanted to spend the day. Her first response was "I want to go to the doctor's and get some vaccinations"! Ok, maybe there was something lost in the translation... we know how bad my Croatian is! :)
Anyhow, as per Maja's request, Grandma, Maja and I headed to the doctor's office for her 6-month checkup. As you can see by the picture below, Maja was just thrilled and very excited about the whole thing...
When we arrived, Maja woke up and wanted to know where she was. Here was her expression when she found out she was at the doctor's office...
As part of the checkup, the nurse measured and weighed Maja. Maja was 22 inches at birth and measured 27 1/2 inches this morning! For height, she is at the 97th percentile (so 97% of babies her age are shorter than she is). As for weight, I had originally guessed between 19 and 20 pounds, but what do I know? It turns out that although Maja was a heavy-weight at birth (9 pounds), she seems to be slowing down a bit and turning into a feather-weight at 16 pounds 12 ounces (only 12 ounces heavier than she was at 4 months). I was a bit concerned about the small weight gain, but the doctor didn't seem to be. Maja is still measuring at the 75th percentile. Here is a shot of Maja being weighed (she has the same look of fear on her face as I do when I get weighed)...
As we were waiting for the doctor to come in, Maja was trying to find things to entertain herself. What better way to keep entertained than flying around the room as Superbaby (apparently the cape is optional - or very very small)?!?
After exhausting herself from flying, Maja thought we should check our blood pressure...
After getting bored of that, Maja decided she wanted to sit and play with the ever-so-entertaining and crinkly paper on the bed (that could have been hours of entertainment)...
The doctor came in shortly after this photo was taken and the dreaded vaccinations took place. Maja took it like a man as she only cried for a short little while and then calmed herself down. After packing ourselves up and making a quick stop at Longo's next to the doctor's office, Maja fell asleep on the drive back. But before we arrived back home, we stopped off at Daddy's office to visit. Unfortunately, Grandma has those photos on her camera right now. We'll be sure to update the blog with those once we get them.
