Lilypie 2nd Birthday Ticker

I Am My Father's Daughter...

As you can see from these first two photos, Maja is definitely following in her father's footsteps in that she likes to play with her soccer balls. Although Maja seems to tolerate the Jolly Jumper most times, she really does seem to light up and her legs start kicking a bit more when we place the soccer ball near her feet. Here is a shot of her passing the ball to Grandma...
Here Maja is guarding the ball and looking as though she's giving Grandma a look as if to say "You better not be thinking of coming over here and taking this ball from me"...
Here Maja is snacking on Pedro's carrot - mmmm veggies...
Back near the end of December, Marvin and I gave Maja rice cereal in a bottle (very very liquidy rice cereal) in hopes of having her sleep a bit better. After about four or five times with no success (other than successfully blocking up her system... not a pretty day when it finally started working again - four days days later), we gave up and stopped giving it to her. Now that Maja is almost 6 months, we wanted to start her on solids again. Here is a shot of me feeding her a spoonful of rice cereal...
And here is her reaction...
Needless to say, she was not impressed at all! Actually, when we gave it to her a week ago, Maja actually threw up (not spat up, but really threw up) 9 times! A bit confusing to us because it was the same brand that we had given her back in December and she didn't have a problem with it then. So after she was sick on it last week, we thought we'd wait a week before trying it again, but when we tried it this past Tuesday and again this morning, she did not like it at all. I think we'll have to move on to the next grain (oat?) and maybe try rice again further down the road.
In one of the recent blogs, you got to see a picture of how Maja likes to "relocate" in her crib when she wakes up from naps. You also read that she has really developed a lot over the past couple of weeks. Now here is a shot of Maja putting those two things together - when Grandma went upstairs to get her up from her nap the other day, this is how she found Maja!
Ok, maybe not... my arm was holding her up under the blanket! I posted that picture in hopes that we fooled our friend Steph into thinking that Maja was standing already (that hope in only in retaliation for Steph fooling me last April into thinking that Christine (then just shy of 6 months) had said her first word).
And of course, as soon as something is within a 1-foot radius of Maja, in her mouth it goes! I wonder where she gets it from...
Here I am tempting Maja with Pedro to help her roll over from her belly to her back - Stage 1...
Stage 2...
Partly because of Maja's weight (I'm guessing she's probably close to 19 or 20 pounds) and partly because they don't seem to come up high enough on her, we're soon going to switch Maja to size 3 diapers. I really don't think they fit her well enough anymore - what do you think?
Here Maja is very excited about being rescued from the crib (and that horrible thing called sleep) by Grandma...
Because of the nice weather on Tuesday, Grandma and I wanted to take Maja for a walk. But by the time we all got suited up, Maja had started to get a bit tired and, as you can see by this photo, thought it would be better to go for a drive (I love how her right hand is on the steering wheel)...
Here's how she looked with the car door closed (makes me rethink all those times I joked about little old ladies driving around town who can't see over the steering wheel... maybe those old ladies were actually little babies!)...
And this photo of our backyard was taken this morning during the short, but powerful, snow storm we had. Wasn't it pretty?
